This is the Purdy Family Reunion website! We are descendants of Gabriel Purdy (brothers, Gilbert and Henry), United Empire Loyalists who arrived in Nova Scotia 225 years ago. If you are a descendant you and your family are invited to attend and are welcome to post to this blog.
The Purdy Reunion will take place in Truro, Nova Scotia on July 4th-6th, 2008. See you there!
Wow, this is exciting. I hope Jim and I can make it, but I am starting a new job in April, and I will still be in school in July! Sounds like it’s going to be a fun time!!
Hey Purdys & Friends
Very impressive start to kick off the planning! We will be attending from New Brunswick and really looking forward to the Reunion. In 1983, (at age 21) I arrived (in Truro) on my motorcycle from PEI (where I was living at the time)- a bit of a rebel – 25 years later still looking for fun – much less hair- now with 5 kids and a grandson!
Take care y’all
Hi everyone I am also excited about the reunion. I too was there is 1983 but was only 11 years old. I am the granddaughter of Hubert Purdy, daughter of Dick Purdy and will be bringing along my 4year old son Blake and my baby daughter Ellie who was born in December. Should be lots of fun, see you this summer!
Hey Purdys and friends … this looks great. Elizabeth MacArthur has recruited me as a member of the organizing team, and I’m looking forward to getting to work on that. Looks like its already off and running though. (Elizabeth and I are both daughters of Ivan and Muriel.)
It will be good to reconnect and share memories, as well as meeting relatives we never even knew before.
Hello Purdy relatives one and all. I am a granddaughter of Bernice Georgina Purdy and Walter Levi Rushton, and eldest daughter of Leon Rushton. Mom and Dad attended the last reunion but I was working then. I hope to attend this one as it is quite a milestone in the Purdy genealogy.
Hi
I live in Gretna, Scotland and will be visiting my son from 4th. May in Fredericton but I am so excited, because reading back on my family research, I came across the name Blazey Thelma at Hillcrest Manor Truro and if that wasn’t enough I found the Purdy clan.
My Great Grandmother was Elizabeth Purdy, born in Vauxhall/ Lambeth as was my Grandmother Alice Hitchcock.
We, husband Jim and I, are flying into Halifax and hopefully, we will be hiring a car and will drive to Fredericton but would love to hear from anyone, about the history….or…well just about anything.
I have a list of names I want to check out, possibly stopping off at Truro.
Kind regards
Jacqueline Lamberton
