Hello Purdy family!
My name is Mia-anne Purdy and I am the grand-daughter of Robert Purdy, who lives in South Wales. My grand-father told me to write a comment, to say who I am. I am really interested in getting to know my family in Canada’s Nova Scotia. I would like to come over and see you some time.
My grandfather said that next year I may be able to go to Canada, so I really can’t wait. Please write back to this address (i-isa-12@hotmail.com.)
Thank-you very much for reading my comment.
Love, Mia-anne Purdy, South Wales.
I do believe we are connected to the Purdy line, just not sure how.
My grandfathers both came from Westchester. Isacc Simpson and William Dean Scott. I believe there is also a connection between them as well. Again I don’t know where. I was also told that there was a connection to the Orr’s by the late Ralylee (Not Spelled Right) Orr, but he passed away before I got the connection.
I would love to see someone’s family tree if possible to see where the connections might be.
Thank you.
Anne:
In order to find a Purdy connection I’ll need some dates.
And by Westchester, do you mean the village of Westchester in Cumberland County, Nova Scotia, or the Westchester County in New York where the Purdys came from?
I have a large index of Purdy as well as other family names across the USA and Canada.

Hello, I just found this web site today and am excited about it.
I was born on 8 March 1942 in Fall River Mass. to Dorothea M. Mroz-Purdy. My father, David Gilbert, (second son of Charles Ellsworth) was a member of the USAAF as a Canadian citizen at that time. He became a naturalized US citizen as a result of his service. I visited Malagash twice once in 1954 with my parents and again in 1961 with my grandfather who was known by his middle name to the family. Each visit was quite brief and as a callow, inexperienced youth I did not take much culture from these visits.
I married Yvette Irene Beaudet in ‘64 and have two daughters, Renee Michelle and Denise Myra.
I would like to hear from you and fill in some missing information about my family.
I currently live in Woonsocket, RI and the girls reside in nearby Bellingham, Mass.

Hello,
I tried to post before but it never appeared. I recently moved to Halifax from Calgary, AB. I’m directly related to Glenn Hooper who has posted on here – we share the same Great Grandparents, and his Maternal Grandmother and my Paternal Grandfather are siblings.
I recently made the trip to Wallace Bay and Pugwash to re-trace some of the branches of my family tree. Through a family tree that my late Grandfather prepared before he died in 1981, I think I have my lineage down as per below. I was very fortunate to find Adolphus Purdy’s (and Ann’s, as well as their two infant sons graves) and have photographs to share from the cemetery if there is interest.
Francis Purdy
Joseph Purdy
Samuel Purdy Sr.
Samuel Purdy Jr.
Gabriel Purdy I – GGGGG Grandfather
Henry Purdy (brother of Jacob) – GGGG Grandfather
Adolphus Purdy – GGG Grandfather – grave located
George Purdy – Great Great Grandfather
Gordon Purdy – my Great Grandfather
Stanley Purdy – my Grandpa died in 1981, brother of Joyce Marie Purdy (married name Kirkwood)
Robert Purdy – my father
Kelly Ann Purdy
I would be delighted to connect with more Purdy’s. I’ve even got some photos (and photos of portraits painted by my mother Donna Purdy – found at her name dot com) of more recent generations to share.
Feel free to e-mail me – I’m k_purdy (at) hotmail (dot) com.
Best Regards,
Kelly Ann Purdy, Halifax, NS (formerly of Calgary, AB
Hello,
I am a direct descendant of James and Evalina Purdy from Nova Scotia. He was my great great grand father and she his wife. My great grandmother was Daisy Vaughn Purdy. She told me that she was one of (I think) 18 children. She was born on August, 1897. I have tried to find recorded information on my family but there never seems to be a match. I do know that some of her sisters were Jessie, Gussie, Gertrude and Lillian. Some of her brothers were Edward, Douglas, Robert and James. She had a son born of a rape and was raised as her brother when she was eighteen. His name was Herbert James Purdy. He is the father of Ruth Dorothy Purdy (my mother). I am one of seven children. My mother was an only child. If anyone could help me find information I would greatly appreciate it. I do know that Uncle Ed settled in the Cape in Massachusettes. Jessie married John Burke and resided in Roslidale or Dorchester, MA. My nana Daisy married a william Shaw and also lived in Roslindale, Ma.
